(RepublicanView.org) – Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) withdrew a previous request to file a restraining order permanently against Jayson Boebert, her ex-husband.
A Garfield County court approved a temporary protection order for Boebert on February 2 to protect her from domestic abuse. Jayson Boebert was arrested twice two weeks before. He faces charges related to trespassing and obstructing an officer for an incident that occurred on January 6 at a restaurant in Colorado. He claims his ex-wife punched him in the face, while she claims he attacked her.
Following a 911 call, police said they found no evidence of domestic abuse but still escorted Jayson out. He advised police to investigate Lauren for DUI.
He was arrested again after his teenage son, Tyler Boebert, called police claiming that his father had hit him and was threatening him with a gun.
Boebert’s request for a temporary restraining order was granted on February 5. She also scheduled a hearing to make the order permanent. However, Jayson failed to appear once again, thus delaying the hearing. It was rescheduled to March 11, but delayed again as he was scheduled to appear in another court for criminal charges. Lauren Boebert said the delay left her fearing for the safety of her and her children.
However, she told the court to revoke her request, saying she and her ex-husband came to a private agreement.
Lauren and Jayson Boebert finalized their divorce in October 2023. According to The Daily Beast, Jayson said the divorce was “sad” and claimed to love her deeply. He also said the divorce was unexpected. The local district attorney’s office is seeking to ban Jayson Boebert from consuming alcohol or possessing a weapon during the criminal proceedings. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 15.
She also claimed that the fighting between her and her ex-husband, along with the intense public scrutiny of their family, has had a negative impact on their son. Tyler Boebert is currently facing 22 charges, five of which are felonies. Most of his charges relate to vehicle theft and trespassing.
