Actor David Gail Dies at 58 Years Old

Actor David Gail Passes Away at 58

( – Actor David Gail, who starred in the 1990s teen drama Beverly Hills 90210, has died at the age of 58. Gail played Stuart Carson, the fiancé of Shannen Doherty’s character in the hit series, and since then, went on to perform in Port Charles, a spin-off from the popular daytime soap opera General Hospital. Katie Colmenares, Mr. Gail’s sister, shared the news of his death on Instagram and described him as her “wingman” and “best friend.”

On January 22, a representative of the actor’s family issued a press release saying that Mr. Gail died from complications following a sudden cardiac arrest. The circumstances before the arrival of paramedics are unclear, but the statement confirmed that emergency personnel attempted to save the actor using cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and defibrillation but were unsuccessful. He lived on a hospital life-support system for several days before staff pronounced him dead.

“The family has no reason to suspect the cause of his death was anything but heart failure,” the representative said, according to PEOPLE.

Born in Tampa, Florida, in 1965, Gail started his acting career with guest roles on Doogie Howser MD, Murder She Wrote, and Growing Pains in the 1990s. In 1996, he landed the lead role in Savannah opposite Tiffani Thiessen. He also enjoyed guest appearances on ER and Robin Hoods.

Mr. Gail’s death occurs as his former on-screen fiancée, Shannen Doherty, battles with cancer. In a recent podcast, Doherty said she isn’t ready to die and wants to do much more. Last November, the actress told reporters that the cancer in her body was spreading and had reached her bones.

Doherty was initially diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2015, and having undergone radiotherapy and chemotherapy, the disease was in remission two years later. In 2023, it had returned, and Doherty told fans it had spread to her brain and was terminal. Discussing her funeral, she said she wants her ashes mixed with her father’s and her dog’s.
