(RepublicanView.org) – An actor has been arrested for attempted murder after allegedly attacking and injuring his ex-girlfriend with a knife. Prosecutors charged Nick Pasqual with one count of attempted murder, one count of first-degree residential burglary with a person present, and one count of injuring a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend, or child’s parent. A press statement from the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office confirmed the charges and said Pasqual faces a possible sentence of life in prison.
The alleged victim is Hollywood make-up artist Allie Shehorn, who suffered multiple wounds during the incident on May 23 at her LA home. The District Attorney’s statement claims that Pasqual entered Shehorn’s house at around 4:30 am and inflicted severe bodily injury with a knife. He then fled the scene but was later apprehended by law enforcement officers at a border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas. District Attorney George Gascón said in a press release, “My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident.”
Subsequent reports indicate that Ms. Shehorn suffered more than 20 stab wounds in the assault. A friend discovered Shehorn bleeding heavily and called paramedics, who rushed her to the hospital, where she underwent several surgeries. The make-up artist, who worked on projects including Rebel Moon and Mean Girls, had injuries to her neck, arms, and abdomen.
Mr. Pasqual met Shehorn when they worked together on the Netflix movie Rebel Moon. The alleged victim had reportedly taken out a restraining order against her former boyfriend, who was released from jail just days before the near-fatal assault.
A friend has set up a GoFundMe page to help Shehorn with medical expenses. The 35-year-old make-up artist faces a lengthy hospital stay and numerous surgical procedures and treatments. The fundraiser also asks for financial help as Shehorn gets back on her feet.
District Attorney Gascón said the incident was a stark reminder of the prevalence and dangers of domestic violence. He added that his office would ensure those responsible were held accountable.
