US Singer/Songwriter Arrested for DWI

( – Singer Justin Timberlake has been arrested for driving while intoxicated. Police stopped the 43-year-old after he allegedly ran a stop sign and swerved between lanes while driving in Sag Harbor, New York. Police subsequently charged him with one count of driving while intoxicated and two further traffic violations. He was released without bail the following morning and is due to appear in court in July.

Media reports indicate that Timberlake was driving home from a dinner with friends at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, where police were stationed outside. While driving a gray 2025 BMW, Timberlake reportedly refused police requests to take a breathalyzer test. Unnamed sources also told reporters that the officer of pulled him over did not recognize the singer, who had a number of hits in the 1990s and 2000s, and did not know what he meant when he said an arrest would “ruin” his “tour.”

Timberlake reportedly has a history of heavy drinking and, in 2014, confessed to Oprah Winfrey that there were times when he drank “a whole bottle of whiskey.”

Timberlake was subjected to media and online backlash back in 2021 for allegedly mistreating fellow music star Britney Spears during his brief relationship with her in the early 2000s.

A 2021 documentary, Framing Britney Spears, focused heavily on the troubled singer’s mental health problems that culminated in her father assuming conservatorship. The documentary highlighted allegations that Spears had cheated in her relationship with Timberlake and a song he wrote implying it, prompting fans to slam him on social media and express support for Spears.

The recent arrest comes as the Grammy Award winner relaunches on to the world stage with a comeback tour. Friends say he was “in a good place.”

Timberlake is an award-winning American singer and songwriter who has been in music since his youth. He has also delved into record producing and acting and has released six studio albums to date.
