Nikki Haley Mocks Congress During Remarks

(RepublicanView.org) – Republican Presidential candidate Nikki Haley mocked Congress during a rally on January 28 and called it the “most privileged nursing home” in America. The South Carolinian has long urged age limits and cognitive testing for lawmakers and repeated her call during a recent rally in Conway in her home state. Haley said she meant no disrespect because “We all know 75-year-olds that can run circles around us,” but she elicited laughter from her audience when she added, “And then we know Joe Biden.”

On a more serious note, the former South Carolina Governor stated that Americans should know that the person making the most important decisions on the country’s behalf is “at the top of their game.”

Ms. Haley has repeatedly called out the age of her opponents in the White House race, noting that Donald Trump is 77 and Joe Biden 81. This means that at the end of a second term, Trump will be 82 and Biden 86. Following an incident involving 81-year-old Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell last year, when he froze for several seconds in front of reporters, 52-year-old Haley said America needs a new generation of leaders. “At what point do they get it’s time to leave?” she asked, according to CBS News.

Former President Donald Trump, who leads Haley in the GOP Presidential nomination race, agreed with his opponent and said that people over 75 should be subjected to cognitive testing if they wish to take up residence in the Oval Office. Trump said he has undergone such testing and “aced” it, according to reports. At a recent rally in Las Vegas, he described some of the mathematical questions he was asked, including multiplying 4,733 by 7, then dividing that by four and adding 37.5. The former President said not many people could answer that question.

Nevertheless, recent gaffes, including apparently confusing Nikki Haley with Nancy Pelosi, have prompted Haley to publicly doubt Trump’s cognitive prowess. She has called for Trump to engage in a one-on-one debate with her, suggesting it would give him the chance to prove he could defeat her.
