Melania Trump Issues Statement Following Shooting

(RepublicanView.org) – Former First Lady Melania Trump has spoken out about the attempt on her husband’s life and called for America to unite and rise above hate. Referring to her husband’s alleged shooter as a “monster,” she said he viewed the former President as a “political machine” and failed to recognize his humanity. She added that seeing the bullet whizz by his head made her realize how close she had come to a “devastating change” in her life.

Mrs. Trump has been relatively quiet during her husband’s Presidential campaign, and some commentators suggest she is a reluctant First Lady who is not keen on re-entering the White House. The shooting, however, launched her back into the spotlight, and she urged America to “ascend above the hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence.”

Mr. Trump appeared at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee days after he was injured in an assassination attempt during a rally in Pennsylvania. The former President appeared subdued, however, as he was officially named the Republican Presidential candidate.

Meanwhile, billionaire Elon Musk announced his intention to contribute $45 million per month to Trump’s campaign. Musk endorsed Mr. Trump immediately after the shooting and said he wished him a speedy recovery.

President Joe Biden, who previously stated that Democrats must place “Trump in a bullseye,” has described his remarks as a “mistake.” The comments were made during a call with donors prior to the Pennsylvania rally, and the President subsequently explained that he intended to encourage greater focus on the Trump agenda and “the number of lies he told during the debate.” There is reportedly no indication at this time, however, that the attempted assassination was connected to Biden’s comments.

Biden has also pushed back on some criticisms of his rhetoric regarding Trump when asked about things he has said that might “incite people.” In response, Biden asked how you address the “threat to democracy” when the “president says things like he says?” He then went on to question, “Do you just not say anything?”
