(RepublicanView.org) – The UK’s Prince Charles contacted Donald Trump following the attempt on his life. The 75-year-old Monarch wrote a letter to the former President via the UK’s Embassy in Washington, DC, but the letter’s contents have not been made public. However, it’s been reported that the note expressed sentiments similar to those of British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, who said he was “appalled by the shocking scenes” in Pennsylvania and wished Trump and his family well. “Political violence in any form has no place in our societies, and my thoughts are with all the victims of this attack,” Starmer added.
King Charles last met with Trump when he visited the UK during his Presidency, and they had afternoon tea together at the palatial Clarence House in London. The late Queen Elizabeth II also hosted the former President at Buckingham Palace the same year.
Members of the UK’s new Labour government, many of whom have fiercely criticized Trump in the past, also expressed their good wishes and condemned the Pennsylvania shooting. Labour MP Lucy Powell, Leader of the House of Commons, said, “This is a horrific incident which we condemn completely and fulsomely.” Fellow MP Kim Leadbeater, whose sister, Labour MP Jo Cox, was murdered in a politically motivated attack, said the attempt on Trump’s life was “shocking and deeply disturbing and deeply upsetting.”
The UK’s Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who has also reportedly been intensely critical of Trump in the past, also raised his voice and said his best wishes were with the former President and others involved in the incident.
Authorities have been investigating the circumstances of the assassination attempt against Trump. While the alleged shooter has been identified as Thomas Matthew Brooks, no motive has been revealed. However, recent updates in the case indicate that Brooks conducted internet searches on political figures and events, as well as deadly shooter Ethan Crumbley ahead of the incident.
