Hunter Biden Drops Legal Case Against Fox News

(RepublicanView.org) – The President’s son Hunter Biden has dropped a lawsuit against Fox News. The news came just hours after President Joe Biden announced he would not seek re-election in November and just a month after filing a lawsuit against the network for filming a miniseries about his legal troubles. Hunter Biden was convicted on federal unlawful gun possession charges in June.

The miniseries that prompted the lawsuit is entitled “The Trial of Hunter Biden” and reportedly included inappropriate images of him. The President’s son said the series, which has since been removed from Fox’s platforms, intentionally manipulated information and distorted the truth for political reasons. Biden’s attorneys did not comment on their client’s decision to drop the case. However, ABC News reported that he is planning to refile against different defendants.

Some images used in the series were famously displayed by Republican firebrand Marjorie Taylor Greene in Congress last year. The Georgia lawmaker showed the pictures at an Oversight Committee hearing in July 2023, prompting a journalist to denounce her behavior as “disgusting.”

At the hearing, New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez called out Taylor Greene and asked her to equally condemn the alleged behavior of Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz, who was accused of exploiting a teenage girl, although an investigation resulted in no criminal charges.

In his lawsuit, Hunter Biden cited New York’s laws, which make it illegal to distribute explicit images or videos without the consent of the individuals depicted.

Fox News fiercely defended the series amid criticisms, saying it was a legitimate portrayal of a newsworthy topic. The network also argued the production was protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution and said Hunter Biden’s difficulties were of his own making.

Hunter Biden was convicted on three felonies for lying on federal documents when he purchased a firearm in 2018. In his subsequent memoirs, the President’s son acknowledged that he was using crack cocaine at the time, but claimed he was free of drugs on the document.
