The Investigation Unveils a Dark Plot

South Florida developer Sergio Pino came under FBI scrutiny after an allegation surfaced that he masterminded a plan to kill his wife. The scheme reportedly involved Fausto Villar, who contracted Avery Bivins to carry out the hit. Bivins cooperated with law enforcement, recording a crucial call with Villar, and helping to illuminate the case further.

In July, amid the FBI investigation, Pino died by suicide, complicating the legal proceedings. Authorities arrested nine individuals, including Bivins and Villar, who all pleaded not guilty. Pino’s ties to Villar were traced through a business connection, specifically a roofing company associated with Villar’s wife.

Plot Details and Motivations

The alleged murder plot’s motive is tied back to financial disputes within the Pinos’ divorce proceedings, with their fortune estimated between $153 million and $359 million. Tatiana Pino rejected a $20 million divorce settlement, triggering the alleged deadly intentions. The plot’s sophistication allegedly included attempts at poisoning her with fentanyl and using a firearm during a confrontation.

Police documented chilling incidents, including one where her daughter was reportedly confronted by a gunman. “Please, someone with a gun is here,” a terrified Alessandra, Tatiana’s daughter, reported during a 911 call after witnessing a gunman pointing a weapon at her.

Ongoing Concerns and Future Proceedings

The arrest of multiple suspects brought new leads to the investigation. The U.S. Attorney’s Office linked the plot’s conception to July 2022, stating that the hitmen procured fentanyl to poison Tatiana. Meanwhile, the Pino estate remains under watchful eyes, both for asset division and security concerns surrounding Tatiana.

“I’ve been in law enforcement for 27 years, and something like this … it seemed like something out of a Hollywood movie, but this was unfortunately real life,” Pinecrest Police Department Chief Jason Cohen remarked.

Tatiana Pino’s life remains under a protective radar as law enforcement maintains close surveillance for her safety, while the legal system seeks justice in what Chief Jason Cohen calls a case seemingly taken from Hollywood but frightfully manifest in real life.
