Democrats Throw Support Behind Kamala Harris

AOC Throws Support Behind Kamala Harris

(RepublicanView.org) – New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for President of the United States. Ocasio-Cortez made the endorsement just days after warning that the Democratic party would be in “serious peril” if Joe Biden exited the White House race. The “squad” member was joined in her endorsement by Missouri’s Cori Bush and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, along with many other Democratic leaders.

On Twitter, the New York Rep. wrote that Kamala Harris “will be” the next US President and pledged to do all she could to ensure the Democrats unite behind the Vice President and defeat Donald Trump in November.

Cori Bush also offered her endorsement to Harris, saying the Biden–Harris victory in 2020 reflected American confidence in the Vice President and her ability to defeat “MAGA extremism.” Bush, a previous Black Lives Matter activist, described black women as the backbone of the Democratic party and argued that it was right that a black woman should lead.

Similarly, Rep. Ilhan Omar wrote that she was “thrilled” to endorse Harris and likewise promised to help her defeat Trump.

One of the most significant endorsements came on July 22, when former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi offered her support. In a written statement to the press, the Democrat grandee praised the President for his service to America and described him as one of the “most consequential” Presidents in the nation. Pelosi said she endorsed Kamala Harris with “immense pride” and was confident the Vice President could lead the party to victory.

Also chiming in to support Harris were Bill and Hillary Clinton. In a joint statement, the Clintons stated they were “honored” to support Harris and praised Joe Biden for lifting America out of the 2020 health emergency and restoring a “battered” economy. “We join millions of Americans in thanking President Biden for all that he has accomplished,” they said.

Other Democrats such as Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and more have backed Harris. Reports indicate has the number of delegates needed to win the nomination, but nothing is confirmed until delegates cast their votes the first week of August.
