(RepublicanView.org) – Actress Shannen Doherty has announced that her stage-4 breast cancer has spread to her bones. The star was diagnosed in 2015 and said at the time that it had extended to her lymph nodes. However, successful treatment meant it was in remission by 2017. Sadly, the cancer returned in 2020.
“I’m not afraid of death. I know where I’m going,” she said in an interview with People Magazine, adding that she has no fear because she is a good person. The actress did, however, concede that she does not want to die, and hasn’t given up hope because there are things in life she still wants to achieve. “My greatest memory is yet to come,” she added.
Despite her prognosis, Doherty’s spokesperson told reporters she intends to carry on with TV appearances and other commitments in the coming months. She is booked to appear on Good Morning America and Live With Kelly in December and will continue with her planned new podcast, Let’s Be Clear With Shannen Doherty.
Ms.Doherty also hopes to return to acting and said people often have preconceived ideas about what cancer patients are capable of. She optimistically stated, “We’re vibrant and have a different outlook on life. We are people who want to work and embrace life and keep moving forward.”
Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Doherty rose to fame in the 1990s when she starred in the teen hit Beverly Hills 90210 alongside other big names such as Luke Perry and Jason Priestly.
Known as the “bad girl of the ’90s,” stories of feuds with 90210 co-stars, including allegations of physical altercations, hit the headlines during that time. She is also a registered Republican and said she recognizes that most people in the entertainment industry are Democrats, and she said she has no problem with that. But, she argues, other stars should equally have no problem with her political allegiance.
