(RepublicanView.org) – Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been barred from practicing law in the Empire State. This decision comes after Appellate Division Courthouse of New York State found he made false statements about the past election.
Giuliani’s disbarment comes just two months after billionaire station owner John Catsimatidis canceled his radio show in the Big Apple amid fears that his persistent claims could lead to legal action by Dominion Voting Systems. Dominion previously sued Fox News for likewise repeating the claims and settled for $787 million.
In February, the former Mayor appeared in a New York court and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. The 80-year-old said he was owed roughly $2 million in legal fees from former President Donald Trump, but this had not materialized. He also claimed extensive debt, particularly in light of a court ruling that ordered him to pay $148 million to two election workers, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss, for defamation.
After the defamation trial, Guiliani said he didn’t have any regrets and claimed the enormous damages awarded were ridiculous. The Republican additionally refused to back down on his accusations against Freeman and Moss. He claimed that the truth would eventually reveal itself.
Guiliani served as the 107th New York City Mayor from 1994 to 2001 and as the United States Associate Attorney General from 1981 to 1983. A well-known ally of Trump, he advised the former president during his 2016 campaign and was one of his lawyers when Trump was in office. He also ran for U.S. Senate back in 2000, but backed out of the race after receiving a cancer diagnosis.
